Introducing, Whitby Tennis Club’s Head Coach, Andrew Chuah
Andrew brings a wealth of experience, energy, and passion for developing players at all levels. His tennis journey began at age nine, inspired by watching his mum play mid-week ladies’ matches, and quickly grew into a lifelong love of the sport. Andrew went on to achieve junior and senior representative honours for the Hutt Valley, along with National age-group and Teams Events success.
.
Andrew is passionate about helping players reach their potential and goals. He takes great pride in helping players improve their game, often through small fundamental adjustments that create big results. Many of his students say that the progress they make through coaching, leads not only to better performance, but also to a greater enjoyment of the game!
Andrew’s no stranger to Whitby Tennis Club, having been involved in plenty of memorable (and hard-fought) matches against Whitby’s premier men’s team. He’s delighted that he’ll now be wearing Whitby colours and playing for the club rather than against!
.
Late last year, Andrew completed a tennis tour through Spain and Italy, competing in ITF tournaments on red clay and even winning gold in doubles at the Barcelona event! Complementing Andrew’s tennis playing experience are his qualifications and include:
.
Tennis Australia Club Professional Coach (ITF Level 2)
Tennis Australia Junior Development Coach, (ITF Level 1)
Andrew belongs to international coaching forums, driven by a desire to stay current with the latest breakthroughs in tennis stroke production, biomechanics, and the technical innovations that shape the modern game. One of his most fulfilling coaching accomplishments has been nurturing a player from the tender age of seven all the way to the semi-finals of the NZ Nationals at 16, showcasing talent in both singles and doubles. He thrives on the opportunity to work with players of all ages and skill levels, from enthusiastic juniors to dedicated senior athletes.
See you on the court!
